In 1980 "Who I Am Makes A Difference®" Blue Ribbon Ceremony was created by Helice "Sparky" Bridges. In 1988, a teacher in NY called her to share what has become the signature story.

In 2007, Mary Robinson Reynolds, Make A Difference flash movie maker, was introduced to Helice by one of her subscribers and the two women joined their intentions to make the world a better place. Mary and Heart Productions & Publishing then created the BlueRibbonMovie.com version of this story, which has currently been viewed 3 million times in it's first 3 months ...and is still going.

How Stan H has been using Acknowledgment to create Prosperous Make A Difference Businesses for 7 years:

First of all, I use your movies as inspiration everywhere I go.

As far as using the Blue Ribbons (and Wristbands) in a business setting, it is not rocket science.

We set aside an all staff/employee meeting for the business. The initial phase is to show the Blue Ribbon movie from your DVD as an introduction as to what is possible when people choose love over blame.

The owner sets the "safe place" tone and commits to maintaining this safe place from here on as the authentic heart of the kind of environment he desires to provide for his business. He has chosen to establish love and acknowledgment as the foundation. Often this has not been the case, so this serves as a tremendous healing and new beginning opportunity.

Next the Doctor, Lawyer, Real Estate business owner, etc. takes the time to acknowledge his employees and or other members of his staff or organization. In many instances the spouse of the business owner is invited to this meeting as well.

What miracles I have witnessed. That's another story.

He then opens the opportunity for the staff to recognize one another. These meetings on average shift from a 30-minute information meeting to many hours of appreciation and healing.

To end the meeting we, reconfirm the business owner's resolve that we will recognize one another daily and acknowledge one another, and this is now our foundation.

Collateral "Make A Difference" material such as signs and posters claiming that we are not here just make a living, we are here to make a difference, are created in a manner that support the environment and our new foundation of love.

Each day 5 minutes is set aside for employees/staff to recognize one another for what might have taken place the previous day.

At each monthly staff meeting a recognition opportunity is provided.

After the first month, WE GO QUANTUM.

Now that the staff is fully engaged, as a client, patient, customer comes into the office, they are greeted and acknowledged. In many instances even before they have signed in at the front desk. They are given a blue ribbon and two more to pass on the love and acknowledgment to someone important to them.

While in the waiting room Who You Are Makes A Difference collateral material surrounds them. Posters, books and stories. I have even had the DVD movies playing on the office television for those in the waiting room.

When they go in to see the Dr. or professional they see Make A Difference collateral material on the wall.

They are immersed in love and the reality and authenticity of the acknowledgment and this office's dedication to making a difference.

In many instances reports have come back from referring doctors, family members, co-workers and on and on about the significant shift our Blue Ribbon provided and continued to provide.

It then becomes the cause marketing opportunity for that business. They have the opportunity to create a Blue Ribbon cross marketing campaign with others who serve the community and share their goal of acknowledgment.

My goal is to create Blue Ribbon Business Communities that embrace the acknowledgment and loving aspect of making a difference to their clients and patrons and that they in turn would commit a percentage of profitability each month into a pool that would serve as the funding mechanism to launch the Blue Ribbon program at their local school.

Helice is Being that vibrant wonderful spirit as she trains more trainers and makes a difference in the lives of others.

I have done this on a small scale but the concept can be taken world wide.

How are people using the I Make A Difference wristbands as "in the moment" Acknowledgments to make a world of difference in people's lives?

Whenever you are out and about, doing your life, and you come across an individual who has been of service, who is making a difference that you've observed, take your wristband off your wrist and let the person know what a difference they make. Using the Power of Acknowledgment in Increasing Your Business Bottom Line

Core Values, your "reason for being," will determine your success in life and in business. To help you or your company reinforce what's most important, and to show that you care, begin with the simple act of acknowledgment – organization-wide. It will have a continuous exponential ripple effect!

Acknowledgment makes more money!
According to Professor Daniel Goleman, who conducted research on how emotions affect the workplace for his book Primal Leadership, there is a direct correlation between employee morale and the bottom line. One study found that every 2 percent increase in the "service climate" – that is, the general cheerfulness and helpfulness of the staff – saw a 1 percent increase in revenue.

To the small or large business owner and entrepreneur: Real leadership begins on the inside with your own commitment to inspire the best in others and be the difference you want to make in your lifetime.

Leaderless leading is a philosophy – an attitude – that will work wonders for anyone in any type of leadership role. Emerson said it best, "It's one of the most beautiful compensations in life that no person can help another without helping themselves."

Change is cited as a major cause of organizational negativity: The newest research shows that negativity in the workplace can significantly hamper employee productivity. Employees create negativity within themselves and often the work environment amplifies such negativity and transmits it to others. It's everywhere!! Negativity breeds negativity and on it goes. What can you do about someone or something that is so negative all the time?

Abraham Maslow, known as the father of modern motivational theory, based his famous work Motivation and Personality on his studies of people as psychological specimens. His theory asserts that individuals are more capable, rational, and self-reliant than previous theories had suggested. The central core of his thesis is that man is an ever-evolving creature. As one desire is satisfied, another surfaces, and he goes to the next level. In his "hierarchy of needs" chart, he showed a five-stage progression-from survival, security, and belongingness, to self-esteem and finally self-actualization. In 1990, aesthetic, self-actualization and transcendence were added as upper levels in the hierarchy.

Having worked with clients throughout the United States, varying in age, sex, race, financial status, and lifestyle, I have found it to be obvious that, although their concerns span a broad spectrum, they follow quite literally the progression outlined in Maslow's chart. There is little similarity between the person who is concerned about basic survival issues such as where he is going to get his next meal, where he will sleep, how he will clothe himself, and the person who is focusing on a career change, a divorce, or life purpose. I have found one consistent, all-pervasive theme that appears to be a major issue to all people regardless of their life condition, status in society, or background: the need to connect with someone else, with understanding and regard.

All the techniques and exercises included in this training manual have been used by my clients and workshop participants to compassionately deal with basic human need and fears which can result in communication breakdowns and organization-wide loss in profitable momentum do to negativity. These methods will dissolve negativity and create a greater sense of community and synergy among team members. Thereby extending out to customers, clients and your company's resulting credibility.

Synergy begins with compassionate attention, connection and acknowledgment . As you work with the methodology described and experienced in this training, negativity is gently dissolved and resolved.

Claim your right to be a happy person, start acknowledging the best in others, and you will start feeling it yourself!
First, believe in what you are here to do.
Second, believe in the greatness inherent in ALL people.
Third, rest assured, when acknowledged, people WILL take good works forward.

Staff Meetings: Give the gift that gives back: acknowledgment. Whether you are leading your own company or team, running for mayor of your town, or just trying to conduct a conversation with your teenage child, the power of acknowledgment will help you break through the negating undercurrents that may be deterring your success. Making the time to acknowledge your employees and other members of your staff or organization keeps energy up and productivity flowing.
Extended Family: Your employees' families have a vested interest in the success of your business. Acknowledgment most certainly must include spouses when they are invited to company events and celebrations.

Clients, Patients, Customers: Showing them gratitude and acknowledgment for their decision to give you their patronage is KEY. Give them a purple wristband or blue ribbon every chance you get. Then give them two more to pass on to someone important to them.
